Setting Up CU Life Workbench Share Share via LinkedIn Reddit Email Copy Link Print On This Page This content applies solely to Connected Underwriting Life, which must be purchased separately from the Appian base platform. This content was written for Appian 24.3 and may not reflect the interfaces or functionality of other Appian versions. Introduction After installing the Connected Underwriting Life (CU Life) Workbench solution, you will likely customize it by performing several configurations for your specific underwriting processes. To ensure your solution remains flexible and aligns with best practices, we have provided instructions to guide you through some common configurations. This page outlines the order we recommend for configuring the default solution to work for your organization after installation. However, these instructions can be used to modify the solution at any time. Note: Updates in Appian Designer should be done cautiously by someone familiar with Appian development. Step 1: Configure user groups and security Configuring user groups and security is a good place to start. You will need to know: If your organization has additional business roles not covered in the default groups. What users should be members of each group. Security groups and assignment groups Business users can add users to security groups, create assignment groups, and add users to them in the Connected Underwriting Life Settings site. Security groups are based on a user's role within their company and represent how they interact with the solution. This allows you to put certain teams into security groups to allow access to specific parts of the solution. To create or delete a security group, please contact your system administrator. For example, if your organization has a team responsible for ensuring the data completeness of a case, team members handling this work would be in the Underwriter Case Coordinators group. Alternatively, managers who need to change assignment rules will be in the Case Managers group. Assignment groups determine which users can be assigned cases. For example, a team can have an assignment group focusing on large cases valued at $1M. When a case is assigned to the Large Case team, users in that group are notified to work on the case submission. Add an Assignment Group Assignment groups determine which users can be assigned cases. Once created, assignment groups can be selected when reassigning cases. The solution ships with an ISL Default Assignment Group. To add an Assignment Group: Navigate to the Assignment Groups page. Select CREATE GROUP. Add a group name, description, and group members in the appropriate fields. Click SAVE. Manage group membership Managing group membership is easy. You can add existing users to a group and remove members who no longer have access to a particular group. To add an existing user to a group: Select the group you want to update on the Security Groups or Assignment Groups page. Click ADD MEMBERS. In the Search field, enter the username you want to add. The system will auto-suggest a list of users you can select to add to the group. Click ADD. To remove a member from a group: Select the group you want to update on the Security Groups or Assignment Groups page. From the Member list, select the Remove Member icon next to the name of the user you would like to remove from the group. On the confirmation screen, click REMOVE. Upon removing a user from an assignment group, any cases assigned to that user under that assignment group will move to be unassigned. Upon removing a user from their last security group (in effect, revoking application permissions for that user), the user will be removed as an assignee and a watcher from all relevant cases. Step 2: Deploy Add-ons If any add-ons are desired to be deployed to set up the CU Life solution, choose and download the packages for them. Then, follow the guidance in each add-on’s specific documentation to incorporate the add-on with the base application. Feedback Was this page helpful? SHARE FEEDBACK Loading...
