What's New in Connected Claims? The Connected Claims 1.1 release notes provide an overview of the latest changes and improvements to the Connected Claims solution. New features and improved capabilities were designed with best practices in mind. Integrating with Appian's data fabric Appian’s data fabric makes it easy to stitch data from multiple systems together into a single, secure data model. That's why, in this release, we upgraded from custom data types (CDTs) to record types to manage data in the solution. You can easily connect data from multiple insurance systems, including core, legacy, and specialized systems, and manage it directly from your Connected Claims solution. By transitioning to record types, it’s easier than ever to perform essential data operations, like read, write, update, and create, using powerful smart services like Write Records and Delete Records. Querying application data is also more streamlined now that data is connected using record type relationships. With these relationships, you can effortlessly query data across the system, regardless of where the data lives. Using record types to manage system data makes application development faster and more flexible overall. Leveraging AI Skills for document processing Previously, Connected Claims utilized intelligent document processing (IDP) capabilities to perform document extraction and classification. This release deprecates IDP and introduces AI Skill capabilities, released in Appian 23.2. AI Skill offers a low-code way to build, train, and deploy machine learning (ML) models to simplify and automate document processing. Now Connected Claims can use the Document Classification AI Skill to take a document as an input via a smart service, analyze the documents, and return predictions about the document's type. In the same way, the solution can use Document Extraction AI Skills to ingest a claims document via the Extract from Document smart service, then analyze the document and return a map of the extracted text. Note: IDP was deprecated in Appian 23.2. Use Appian's AI Skills object to automate document extraction and classification in Connected Claims 1.1 or later. Enabling report capabilities End User Reporting (EUR) is a customizable application built on the Appian low-code platform that allows users to create custom reports and dashboards using different data sources. This release supports integrating Connected Claims and EUR to enable users to construct custom reports, grids, charts, and dashboards. Once installed and incorporated with your Connected Claims solution, you can: Configure and create custom and on-demand reports from existing record types from the solution's frontend. Configure dashboards with page filters to combine multiple charts and reports in a single view. Configure dashboards and report visibility for specific users and groups. Additional Updates This release also includes a bug fix that improves the line of business data query by increasing the paging size to return more than 50 results when queried.
