Cloud Resources in MyAppian

On This Page

This page applies to Appian Cloud only. It may not reflect the differences with Appian Government Cloud.

Overview

Cloud Resources is a service available to Appian Cloud customers that enables them to view key metrics and configuration information for their Appian Cloud environments via the Health tab in MyAppian.

To find Cloud Resources, go to the HEALTH tab in MyAppian and click CLOUD RESOURCES:

Scroll or drag to pan · ⌘+/⌘− to zoom · Esc to closeimages/cloud_insights/health_tab.png

Alerts

The Self-Service Alerts page enables support contacts to view alerts for issues that affect your Appian Cloud environment, allowing your organization to resolve issues directly without external dependencies.

Scroll or drag to pan · ⌘+/⌘− to zoom · Esc to closeSelf-Service Alerts page

A detailed look into the Self-Service Alerts page can be found in Self-Service Alerts.

Metrics

The Metrics report allows Appian Cloud customers to easily view metrics for their active cloud environments.

Scroll or drag to pan · ⌘+/⌘− to zoom · Esc to closeimages/cloud_insights/metrics.png

Each series on a chart represents a single server for which the metric is independently collected. Each Appian Cloud environment can consist of one or more servers. Servers within an environment can be filtered out using the server dropdown after selecting an environment. Any set of environments can be saved as the default and will load automatically upon entering Cloud Resources.

You can see additional information for a metric, such as the metric definition and the significance of abnormal values, by clicking the Show Metric Info link above the metric chart.

Scroll or drag to pan · ⌘+/⌘− to zoom · Esc to closeimages/cloud_insights/show_metric_info.png

Most metrics will update on a 5 minute interval. However, certain metrics such as Average CPU Utilization will update around every 60 minutes. Historical data for metrics is available for the last 180 to 365 days depending on the metric and can be accessed by setting the End Time filter in the Metrics interface.

Greater detail for each metric can be viewed by clicking and dragging on the chart either vertically or horizontally to zoom the chart into the selected window. Double-click the chart to reset the vertical or horizontal zoom to the original position. You can view values in the chart legend for each individual data point on the chart by hovering over the desired series with your mouse.

Environments

When you click Environments in the Cloud Resources tab, you have access to reports that provide infrastructure information about your Appian Cloud environments.

Environments report

The Environments report provides configuration information for your Appian Cloud environments such as Appian release, region, and compliance status.

Scroll or drag to pan · ⌘+/⌘− to zoom · Esc to closeimages/cloud_insights/environments.png

Each row in the grid represents a single Appian Cloud environment. For each environment, the report displays the following:

Column Description
Environment The URL of the Appian Cloud environment.
Running Whether the environment is currently running.
Servers The number of servers in the environment.
Purpose The business purpose of the environment. For example, Production or Non-production.
High Availability Whether the environment is configured for high availability.
Appian Release The Appian version the environment is running.
Region The Amazon Web Services (AWS) region where the environment is hosted.
PCI Whether the environment is PCI compliant.
FedRAMP Whether the environment is FedRAMP authorized.
HIPAA Whether the environment is HIPAA compliant.
Pre-Release Testing Enrollment Whether the environment is enrolled in pre-release testing.

To find the environments you want to review, filter the grid by the following:

Filter Description
Configurations The compliance certifications for the environment, such as PCI, HIPAA, or FedRAMP. For the most current information about Appian's compliance certifications, see the Appian Trust Center.
High Availability Whether the environment is configured for high availability.
On Supported Version Whether the environment is running a supported version of Appian.
Pre-Release Testing Enrollment Whether the environment is enrolled in pre-release testing.
Purpose The business purpose of the environment. For example, Production or Non-production.
Region The Amazon Web Services (AWS) region where the environment is hosted.
Running Whether the environment is currently running.

Servers report

The Servers report provides you with detailed resource and performance information for each server in your Appian Cloud environments.

Scroll or drag to pan · ⌘+/⌘− to zoom · Esc to closeimages/cloud_insights/cloud-resources-servers.png

Each row in the grid represents a single server within an Appian Cloud environment. For each server, the report displays the information described in the following table. The table also indicates whether you can filter the grid on the specific column.

Column Description Filter
Environment The Appian Cloud environment the server belongs to. No
Purpose The business purpose of the environment. For example, Production or Non-production. Yes
Environment Running? Whether the environment is currently running. Yes
Region The Amazon Web Services (AWS) region where the server is hosted. Yes
RAM (GB) The amount of memory allocated to the server. No
CPUs The number of CPUs allocated to the server. No
Disk (GB) The total disk space allocated to the server. No
Memory Used % The percentage of allocated memory the server is currently using. No
Disk Used % The percentage of allocated disk space the server is currently using. No
Avg. CPU Utilization (%) The average CPU utilization for the server. No

Storage utilization report

The Storage Utilization report shows you the total amount of data storage each Appian Cloud environment is using. Total usage combines the disk usage reported in the Servers report with the other storage infrastructure Appian uses for your environment, so you get a single view of all the storage that counts against each environment's storage allocation. Use this report to track storage consumption across your environments and plan for future storage needs.

Frequently asked questions

Who can access Cloud Resources data?

The Cloud Resources data for an environment is only visible to authorized technical support contacts for the account the environment belongs to. Users who do not belong to the account for the environment and are not support contacts for the account will not be able to access Cloud Resources. Users must also have access to MyAppian to view Cloud Resources.

How can I grant a user access to Cloud Resources?

To grant a user access to Cloud Resources, an existing support contact should open a support case in MyAppian to request that the new user be added as a support contact. If the user does not already have access to MyAppian, you should request access to MyAppian for them as well.

What browsers can I use with Cloud Resources?

Cloud Resources supports all browsers supported by the Appian product, however, we strongly recommend using either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to ensure the best performance and experience.

Can I view data for environments undergoing maintenance?

Data is not available for environments that are undergoing maintenance and it can take up to 2 hours after an environment is available for the data to appear in Cloud Resources.

Does this replace Appian Cloud Monitoring for my environments?

Cloud Resources does not replace Appian Cloud Monitoring. Appian Support will continue to monitor your environments and notify you of any issues.
