What's new in Contract Writing version 3.6?

Contract Writing (CW) version 3.6 release notes provide an overview of the latest changes and improvements to the Contract Writing solution. The new capabilities in CW 3.6 focus on updating clauses across many awards at once and speeding up line item creation.

Update clauses across multiple awards with mass modifications

CW 3.6 adds support for mass modifications, so you can add, remove, or replace clauses across many released awards at once instead of modifying each contract one at a time.

When a policy change such as an executive order requires the same clause update across a large portfolio, updating each award individually can take hours of manual work. Mass modifications let you identify the affected awards, choose to add, remove, or replace clauses, review the changes before you commit them, and create the modification records in bulk. Each affected award receives a single official modification with one Standard Form 30 (SF30), and each modification then moves through your normal Contracting Officer approval and release process, so you keep the same controls and audit trail you rely on today.

Mass modifications work with your existing Government Clause Automation (GCA) integration to manage clauses, so the GCA integration must be active. This first release supports clause changes only. It does not include mass release of awards, DocuSign mass signing, FPDS Contract Action Report updates, or fill-in clauses.

To use this feature, select CREATE MASS MODS from the Awards grid, choose your operation, and identify the awards to update by clause or by award attributes. Contract Writing processes the modifications in the background and emails you when the process completes.

Create award line items in bulk with Excel export and import

CW 3.6 lets you build award line items in bulk by editing them in Excel and importing the completed file back into the award.

When an award has many line items, entering or adjusting them one at a time in the grid is slow. Now you can download a template, fill it in with the speed and familiarity of a spreadsheet, and import your line items in a single action. If you do generate line items with AI, you can export them from the review screen to refine large sets in Excel before importing them back. Either way, if any rows have errors, Contract Writing flags them so you can correct and re-import, keeping your line item data clean.

To use this feature, navigate to an award's Line Items tab and click IMPORT to download the template and upload your completed file. To export AI-generated line items for offline editing, click EXPORT on the Review Generated Line Items screen after generating them.
