What the Create Claim API does Insurance organizations that rely on external data entry methods for claims processing can face significant hurdles, like increases in processing time, human errors, and delays in claim intake and initiation. These inefficiencies slow down the entire claims workflow, negatively impacting operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction. The Create Claim API add-on module provides an endpoint for external systems to create a new claim in Connected Claims. Create Claim API module benefits With the Create Claim API add-on module, API clients specify data about a claim in the body of their requests. After the API validates a request, it returns a success response that contains the claim ID of the newly created claim. The structure of the Create Claim API mimics the structure and process of manual claim creation. The API uses the same data points and validations as the manual wizard for creating a claim. By allowing external systems to create new claims via an API, the Create Claim API add-on module automates claim intake and streamlines the claims management process. The module eliminates the need to enter claim data from external sources manually. If the API cannot validate a request, it returns an error response and does not create a claim. For the endpoint, the request fields, the code fields, and the possible responses, see Create a Claim via API: the Expected request structure and Possible responses sections describe the request body and the response codes. Use case: automate auto insurance claim creation A large auto insurance company partners with numerous car dealerships. These dealerships frequently facilitate car sales that include insurance policies underwritten by the insurance company. Without the Create Claim API add-on module, dealership staff must enter the new claim information into Connected Claims manually when a car is sold and a policy is initiated. This process is time-consuming and prone to errors. With the Create Claim API add-on module, the insurance company enables its car dealership partners to integrate their sales systems directly with Connected Claims. The integration works in the following sequence: The dealership finalizes a car sale that includes an insurance policy. The dealership's system sends a request to the Create Claim API. The request contains all the necessary claim data, such as policy information, vehicle details, customer information, and coverage details. The Create Claim API validates the incoming data. If the data is valid, the Create Claim API creates a new claim in Connected Claims. The Create Claim API returns a success response with the newly created claim ID to the dealership's system. The dealership's system stores the claim ID for tracking purposes and includes it in its own records. This integration reduces manual data entry, minimizes errors, and accelerates the initiation of new claims, so the insurance company can begin processing claims faster and more efficiently. The integration also frees up staff at the car dealership to focus on sales activities rather than administrative tasks. Install the Create Claim API module To install the Create Claim API add-on module and incorporate it with Connected Claims, see Install the Create Claim API Module - MariaDB or Install the Create Claim via API Module - PostgreSQL. After installation, follow the steps in Create a Claim via API to set up the module. Feedback Was this page helpful? SHARE FEEDBACK Loading...
