Set up GAM Acquisition Central Integration

On This Page
This content applies solely to Vendor Management, which must be purchased separately from the Appian base platform. This content was written for Appian 26.6 and may not reflect the interfaces or functionality of other Appian versions.

The integration between Vendor Management (VM) and GAM Acquisition Central (GSM) connects the two solutions. It provides your contracting team with the tools they need to manage the entire vendor lifecycle with greater confidence and efficiency, directly from their VM solution.

This guide walks you through the required integration steps. Before performing these integration steps, ensure that your system meets the system requirements.

System requirements for GSM integration

This section details the minimum requirements your system must meet to set up the GAM Acquisition Central (GSM) integration.

  • Appian version 25.3 or greater
  • Vendor Management 2.6.0 or greater
  • GAM Acquisition Central 1.3.0 or greater

Set up GSM integration

Caution:  Before processing with the integration setup, GAM Acquisition Central (GSM) needs to be installed. See Installing GAM Acquisition Central.

This integration requires you to generate an API key and add it to the proper connected system.

To generate an API key:

  1. In the target environment, sign in as the deployment user.
  2. Navigate to the Admin Console and select Web API Authentication.
  3. From the API Key tab, click CREATE.
  4. In the Description field, add a description for the API key, for example: API Key to access vendor data from GAM Acquisition Central.

To create a service account:

  1. Click the icon next to the Service Account field to create a new service account.
  2. Enter gsm.vm.integration in the Username field.
  3. Click CREATE to apply the new service account to the API key.
  4. Click CREATE to create the new API key and copy and save it to use in the next section.
  5. Add the newly created service account to the group AS GSM VM API Access in the GAM Acquisition Central application.

To configure the connected system:

  1. Navigate to the Vendor Management application. The Vendor Management application must be in the same environment where you created the API key.
  2. Go to Appian Designer > Applications and select AS VM Full Application.
  3. Under Object Type, select Connected System.
  4. Select AS VM CS GAM Suite.
  5. Paste the API key you saved in the previous step into the Value field.
    1. Be sure to clear or overwrite the old value from the field.
  6. In the Base URL field, enter the URL of the environment where GAM Acquisition Central was imported in the following format: https://sample-url.com/suite/webapi/.

The GAM Suite connected system configuration page showing the Value field for the API key and the Base URL field for the GAM Acquisition Central environment.

  7. Click SAVE.

Note:  To visualize your existing Vendor Management vendors in GSM, migrate them using Vendor Reconciliation and Migration. The migration is mandatory as part of the upgrade to Vendor Management 2.6. All approved vendors need to be migrated to the GAM Acquisition Central before registering any new vendors. This ensures that their links to any existing opportunities or deliverables are not broken.

After you complete the setup, the GAM Acquisition Central solution is ready to use with your VM solution.
