Default groups in Requirements Management

Note:  RM groups are registered in User Access Management (UAM) as either Roles or Permissions. UAM manages group membership based on role-to-permission-set mappings. All group membership changes must be made through UAM.

Manage user access in Requirements Management by assigning users to the following default group categories:

  • Business Groups
    • These groups represent the different business roles that interact with the application.
    • Examples include Requestor, Legal, and Contracting Manager.
  • Security Groups
    • These groups are set as the security for certain Appian objects. Different business groups are members of security groups to grant access to application functionality to entire roles.
    • Examples include AS RM Set Up Checklist and Acquisition Path and AS RM Requirement Document Viewers.
  • Wrapper Groups
    • These groups are used to group several groups of the same category. For instance, a list of business groups may be added to a certain wrapper group. This enables querying for all groups of a certain category in different parts of the application.
    • Examples include AS RM Business Roles and AS RM Departments.

The following sections list the default groups provided with RM, their wrapper and security group memberships, and the actions each security group can perform.

Group visibility for Requirements Management

For the correct groups to show up in application pickers, each type of group has the following visibility settings:

Group Type Visibility Reason
Business group Public End users must be able to select business groups in application pickers.
Security group Private End users must never see security groups in application pickers.
Wrapper group Private End users must never see wrapper groups in application pickers.

Wrapper group membership for Requirements Management

The following table maps each default business group to its parent wrapper group.

The business groups are all members of the AS RM All Business Users group type.
