Install ProcureSight Enterprise

On This Page
This content applies solely to ProcureSight Enterprise, which must be purchased separately from the Appian base platform. This content was written for Appian 26.6 and may not reflect the interfaces or functionality of other Appian versions.

Developed on the Appian process automation platform, ProcureSight Enterprise (PSE) is a pre-built application designed to help streamline the procurement process for government agencies and procurement professionals. PSE consolidates and centralizes procurement data in one place to enable intelligent and efficient search capabilities and provide advanced data and document analysis tools, reducing the time and effort spent on manual research methods.

Installing PSE consists of five main steps:

  1. Download the software package.
  2. Deploy the application plug-ins.
  3. Create the database objects.
  4. Import the application.
  5. Import the Admin Console settings.

Before proceeding with the installation steps, review the system requirements for ProcureSight Enterprise to ensure your system environment meets all minimum requirements. In addition, verify your Appian version and database type.

  • Appian Solutions Plug-in
  • Content Tools
  • Dynamic Document Generator
  • Regular Expression Functions

To download the necessary plug-ins and deploy them to your environments, follow the steps that match your environment setup.

Appian Cloud environments

To deploy the plug-ins for an Appian Cloud environment:

  1. In the target environment, sign in as the deployment user.
  2. Navigate to the Admin Console.
  3. Click Plug-ins in the left navigation pane.
  4. Click ADD PLUG-INS.

Self-managed environments

To deploy the plug-ins for a self-managed environment:

  1. Download the following plug-ins directly from the Appian AppMarket:
  1. Follow the Deploying Plug-ins instructions above to deploy the plug-ins.

Step 3: Create database objects

To create the structure for the database tables, views, and other objects that are part of the PSE application, you need to run the following DDL scripts in your database.

To create the database objects:

  1. In your MariaDB business database, import and run the 01.ProcureSightEnterprisev1.9.0.sql file downloaded in Step 1.
    • Note: The DDL file is optimized for MariaDB and Oracle databases. If you are using a different type of database, modify the DDL file before running it.

Step 4: Import the application

Next, you need to import the PSE application into the target environment.

To import the application:

  1. In the target environment, sign in as the deployment user.
  2. Navigate to Appian Designer and click IMPORT.
  3. Click UPLOAD and choose the ProcureSightEnterprisev1.9.0.zip file downloaded in Step 1.
  4. Select the Include related import customization file checkbox.

Continue the application import

  1. Click UPLOAD and select the ProcureSightEnterprisev1.9.0.properties file you updated in the previous step.
  2. Click INSPECT and review the inspection results to ensure that there will be no complications on import.
    • Note: The inspection could take several minutes to complete and may time out. If this occurs, the import will continue in the background.
  3. Click IMPORT.
    • Note: The import may time out due to file size, but the import will continue in the background.
  4. Review the import results to confirm the PSE application containers were imported:
    • ProcureSight Enterprise Base

Step 5: Import the Admin Console settings

If you want to overwrite the current default start page for your PSE solution, you need to import the Admin Console. This is an optional step that is only applicable for specific versions of PSE or a related hotfix. Before performing the steps in this section, be sure they apply to the PSE version installed in your environment.

For instructions on how to do this, see Appian Administration Console.

Note:  If the business database is not called Appian, a warning will occur when importing the data stores. To fix this, after the import is complete, open each data store object and update the Data Source dropdown list.

Next steps

Now that you have installed ProcureSight Enterprise, you need to follow the setup steps to configure the application and begin using it.
