It describes how to create and manage dashboards created in Process HQ. To learn how to edit, share, or delete a dashboard, see Manage Reports and Dashboards. About dashboards A dashboard allows you to tell a complete story with your business data. A dashboard can combine your custom reports, reports shared with you, and any process KPIs you can access, so that you have a comprehensive view of your organization's data. Developers can also create dashboards, then deploy them to environments to kickstart your reporting experience. Create a dashboard Report creators can create dashboards using the reports available to them. Available reports include reports you've created and those your colleagues have shared with you. System administrators can create dashboards using any report in Process HQ. To create a dashboard: Go to the Home page. Click CREATE DASHBOARD in the header. Process HQ creates the dashboard with the default name, My Dashboard. (Optional) Rename the dashboard and add a description: Click the pencil icon next to the dashboard name. Edit the Name field. Enter a brief description in the Description field. Click UPDATE. Add reports and processes to the dashboard. (Optional) Add dashboard filters. Click SAVE in the header. (Optional) Share the dashboard with your colleagues. Add a report or process to a dashboard Report creators must have the following user access: Editor access to a dashboard to edit it. Viewer access to any reports or process KPIs they want to add to the dashboard. System administrators can edit any dashboard and add any report to the dashboard, but must have Viewer access to a process KPI to add the KPI to a dashboard. You can add up to 20 items to a single dashboard, but keep in mind that the number of items may affect dashboard performance. To add items to a dashboard: Create a dashboard, or view an existing a dashboard and click EDIT DASHBOARD in the header. To add a report, drag and drop a report from the REPORTS tab. Tip: To create a new report to add to your dashboard, click CREATE REPORT. To add a process KPI, drag and drop a KPI from the PROCESSES tab. This tab includes KPIs from your processes on the Process Insights page. Process KPI reports are available on the REPORTS tab. Tip: Process KPIs should only be added to dashboards that will stay in the current environment. Dashboards with process KPIs cannot be deployed to other environments. Continue designing the dashboard: To customize the layout of the dashboard, drag and drop reports and KPIs using the insertion bar. Click and drag items in the dashboard to rearrange them, and click and drag the bottom corner of dashboard items to resize them. Click SAVE in the header. (Optional) Share the dashboard with your colleagues. Scroll or drag to pan · ⌘+/⌘− to zoom · Esc to close Add dashboard filters You can add up to 10 interactive filters to a dashboard so dashboard viewers can filter the data to best fit their needs. Keep in mind that the number of filters may affect dashboard performance. Dashboard filters apply to any reports or process KPIs in the dashboard that use the fields you select in the filter. User filters configured on the dataset's underlying record type are not available in reports or dashboards in Process HQ. To add a dashboard filter: Create a dashboard, or view an existing a dashboard and click EDIT DASHBOARD in the header. Click ADD DASHBOARD FILTER. In the Add Dashboard Filter dialog, configure the following filter properties: For Display Name, enter a name for the dashboard filter. Select the fields you want to filter. You cannot map date and non-date fields to the same dashboard filter. For process-based reports and process KPIs, you can only filter on categorical attributes and date fields. To set a default value for the filter, click the Default Value toggle, then select a value. This value is selected by default whenever a user opens the dashboard. Click ADD. Dashboard security When you create a dashboard, the following access levels are assigned by default: Owner access is assigned to the user who creates the dashboard. No Access is assigned to the Process HQ Users system group. When you share a dashboard with another user, the user's access level for the dashboard controls which actions the user can take. User access levels include: No Access: The dashboard is not visible to the user or group. Viewer: The dashboard is visible to the user or group, but the actions they can take on it are limited. Editor: The dashboard is visible to the user or group, and they can take all actions except editing user access and deleting the dashboard. Owner: The dashboard is visible to the user or group, and they can take all actions including editing user access and deleting the dashboard. This access level becomes the Administrator permission level in Appian Designer. The following table describes the actions users can take based on access level: Action Owner Editor Viewer No Access See a dashboard on the Home page Yes Yes Yes No View a dashboard Yes Yes Yes No Edit a dashboard Yes Yes No No Add a report or process KPI to a dashboard1 Yes Yes No No View dashboard properties Yes Yes Yes No Edit dashboard properties Yes Yes No No See which users a dashboard is shared with Yes Yes No No Edit which users a dashboard is shared with Yes Yes No No Favorite a dashboard Yes Yes Yes No Delete a dashboard Yes No No No 1 You'll also need Viewer access for the report or process KPI you want to add to the dashboard.
