Usage limits may apply. This guide walks you through downloading and manually installing DocCenter on your Appian environment. Note: Most new Appian customers have DocCenter enabled by default. Use this guide only if you need to install DocCenter manually, such as on an existing environment that doesn't already have it. The installation steps include: Verify system requirements. Download the software package. Deploy plug-ins. Create database objects. Import the application. Configure application security. Step 1: Verify system requirements Review the full list of environment prerequisites on the Set Up DocCenter page, including required plug-in versions, AI skills, supported databases, and supported locales. To verify your Appian version and database type: From the navigation menu, click About Appian. Under System Information, verify the Appian version is supported for the version of DocCenter you're installing. Under DATA SOURCES, verify that a supported version of MariaDB or PostgreSQL is available as a business data source. Tip: Before installing DocCenter, Appian recommends administrators enable a currently supported model and select an inference profile on the AI Services page. Step 2: Download the software package Download the DocCenter installation package from MyAppian: Sign in to MyAppian. Click SUPPORT > DOWNLOADS > SOLUTIONS. Search for DocCenter and click the result. Under Downloads, click the latest DocCenter version and agree to the License Agreement. Download the ZIP file and extract the contents. The software package contains the following files: 01.AiDocumentCenterv4.5.0.sql: SQL script file(s) for creating database objects. AiDocumentCenterv4.5.0.zip: Application package ZIP file to import into Appian. AiDocumentCenterv4.5.0.properties: Import customization properties file. Step 3: Deploy plug-ins Before importing the DocCenter application, deploy the required plug-ins to your target environment. The process differs depending on whether you have an Appian Cloud or self-managed environment. Appian Cloud environments To deploy plug-ins on Appian Cloud: In the target environment, sign in as the deployment user. Navigate to the Admin Console. On the left side of the console, click Plug-ins. Click ADD PLUG-INS. Search for and deploy the required plug-ins. Self-managed environments To deploy plug-ins on a self-managed environment: Download the required plug-ins from the Appian AppMarket. Follow the Deploying Plug-ins instructions to deploy them. Note: For optimal performance and security, always use the latest available version of all required plug-ins. Step 4: Create database objects Run the SQL script(s) included in the software package to create the database tables, views, and other objects required by DocCenter. In your MariaDB or PostgreSQL business database, import and run the 01.AiDocumentCenterv4.5.0.sql file downloaded in Step 2. Note: The provided SQL scripts are optimized for MariaDB and PostgreSQL. If you use a different supported database, you may need to adapt the scripts. See Supported databases for more information. Step 5: Import the application Import the DocCenter application into your Appian environment: In the target environment, sign in as the deployment user. Navigate to Appian Designer. Click IMPORT. Click UPLOAD and choose the AiDocumentCenterv4.5.0.zip application file downloaded in Step 2. Click the Include related import customization file checkbox and click UPLOAD. Select the AiDocumentCenterv4.5.0.properties file downloaded in Step 2. Click INSPECT to verify there are no complications on import. Click IMPORT. Note: The import may time out due to file size, but it will continue in the background. Check the import results once complete. Step 6: Configure application security DocCenter includes three user groups to help secure the application based on common responsibilities: AIA Operations: Users who monitor the performance of DocCenter models. These users cannot create or modify models. Appropriate for production usage monitoring. AIA Administrators: Users who create and edit models. Not recommended for production environments. AIA Initiator: Users who interact with DocCenter models through a customer-built application rather than the DocCenter interface directly. Assign this group to end users whose processes need to trigger models and who need to view and complete reconciliation tasks surfaced in the parent application. The following table outlines the actions that can be performed by each permission level in DocCenter's application security role map: Actions AIA Administrators AIA Operations AIA Initiator View source and processed documents Yes Yes Yes Reconcile instance Yes Yes Yes Access DocCenter site Yes Yes No View models and model versions Yes Yes No Run models Yes Yes No View instance summary Yes Yes No Create, update, delete, and run test cases Yes Yes No Create, update, delete, and run test suites Yes Yes No View triggers Yes Yes No View Deployment tab Yes Yes No View AI suggestions Yes Yes No Create models and model versions Yes No No Delete models and model versions Yes No No Publish and restore model versions Yes No No Delete instance Yes No No Create, update, and delete triggers Yes No No Refresh AI suggestions Yes No No Resolve AI suggestions Yes No No Create deployment package Yes No No To add users to a group: In Appian Designer, search for the group (for example, AIA Administrators). Click Add Members. In the Search field, enter the usernames you want to add. Select the users and click Add. Next steps After installation, review the following to configure and start using DocCenter: Set Up DocCenter: Configure model and region settings, verify AI skills, and review locale support. Extraction: Create and configure extraction models. Classification: Create and configure classification models. Deploy: Deploy models to higher environments. Feedback Was this page helpful?
