Setting up Azure OpenAI

This content applies solely to Contract Writing, which must be purchased separately from the Appian base platform.

Introduction

The Appian Contract Writing solution comes with an integration with Azure OpenAI that can be used to generate contract text from user instructions. To configure this integration with your CW solution, you need to register for an account with Azure OpenAI and configure the connected system with your account credentials.

Configure application

After setting up your Azure OpenAI account, you will need to configure the application to use the API key and Resource Name.

  1. Register for a paid account with Azure OpenAI, if your organization does not already have one.
    • NOTE: You may want to start with a free account for your dev and test environments, but you will likely reach the request limit fairly quickly.

  2. Generate necessary account information for your Azure OpenAI account. This includes the API key, Resource Name, Deployment ID, and API Version.

  3. Update AS GCW AI CS Azure Open AI.

    • Paste your API key in the API Key field.
    • Paste your Resource Name in the Resource Name field.
  4. Update AS_GCW_AI_TXT_CHAT_COMPLETION_DEPLOYMENT_ID.
    • Paste your Deployment ID in the Deployment ID field.
  5. Update AS_GCW_AI_TXT_CHAT_COMPLETION_API_VERSION.
    • Paste your API Version in the API Version field.

  6. Click TEST CONNECTION to make sure the API Key works.

  7. This capability is turned on by default using the toggle AS_GCW_AI_BOL_OPEN_AI_TOGGLE.
    • To disable it, set it to False.
