What's new in Connected Underwriting?

The Connected Underwriting P&C 1.5 release notes provide an overview of the latest changes and improvements to the CU P&C solution. These improvements were designed with best practices in mind.

Connected Underwriting P&C modules

Appian offers pre-built modules that allow you to extend the functionality of your Connected Underwriting P&C solutions. This release adds a new Authenticated Broker Portal module and enhances the existing Guidewire Quoting module. Both modules are compatible with Connected Underwriting P&C 1.5 and greater.

Authenticated Broker Portal

Insurance brokers often face difficulties in accessing timely and relevant information regarding their client's insurance policies, including coverage details, risk information updates, and submission status. A lack of transparency and visibility into the underwriting process in addition to limited self-service options for managing submissions, results in longer turnaround times. Without a centralized platform or portal, brokers have to navigate multiple systems or rely on manual communication, which increases the risks of delays and inefficiencies.

To tackle these issues, Connected Underwriting P&C 1.5 ships with a new Authenticated Broker Portal add-on module 1.0. Once integrated with the Connected Underwriting P&C base application, this module allows brokers to easily create submissions, manage their tasks, upload relevant documents, and view instant updates ensuring transparency and accuracy throughout the underwriting process.

The Authenticated Broker Portal also allows brokers to contact insurers ensuring quicker resolution and facilitates seamless communication, collaboration and data exchange between insurers and brokers, leading to improved efficiency, customer service and competitive advantage.

Map coverages easily in Guidewire

This release makes improvements to the Guidewire Quoting module to simplify the passing of coverage data for both auto and property quote generation.

In the previous release, the Guidewire Quoting module generated a quote based on the default configuration for lines of businesses in Guidewire. However, coverages data is complex because this data is nested within other fields, and value choices associated with it are dynamic. With this release, once your CU P&C solution is connected to the Guidewire PolicyCenter, your admins can easily map Appian coverage fields to Guidewire coverages values directly from the Admin Settings site.

Additionally, the module ships with a generic process to pass in coverages that customers can customize based on their Guidewire instance.

Additional updates

This release also includes UI improvements and additional feature enhances to improve the overall user experience, including:

• Minor changes to security mapping to allow base sites to be restricted to internal users only.
• Messaging updates to ensure recipients and message threading are working accurately.
