Elastic Process Execution (EPEx) Engine
This documentation is intended for beta users only. This functionality is not available to most Appian customers, and is not part of the released and supported platform. If you are interested in enrolling in the beta program, please contact your Appian representative.

Overview

In today's business environment, companies of all sizes are concerned with speed and efficiency. Automation can free up your human workforce to focus on the most valuable tasks by delegating routine and predictable tasks to technology. As that automated workload rapidly increases, do you have the infrastructure to support it?

You do if you have Appian. We've built speed and efficiency into the engines that execute your most frequently run processes. Elastic Process Execution (EPEx) is a new process execution engine that supports elastic scaling of unattended process executions, unlocking high throughput automation use cases. The new engine makes efficient use of memory and resources to reliably execute your critical business workflows.

The new execution engine is available as part of our EPEx beta program. We want your feedback as we continue to grow the supported capabilities for processes executed using this new engine. Read on to find out how to participate in the program and access these new capabilities.

Beta program

Prior to the general availability release of EPEx, we want selected customers and partners to gain hands-on experience with it.

Beta program participants enjoy these benefits:

  • Early access to Appian's newest innovations. Participants can explore new features and capabilities before they are generally available, letting you consider how the new features impact resource planning and process investments internally.
  • Direct access to Appian Product and Engineering to provide product feedback and influence future investment at Appian.
  • Opportunity for teams to learn the new software months in advance of general availability so you can minimize implementation timelines and maximize return on investment when the software is released.
  • Free support from Appian subject matter experts to advise on the best use cases and implementation strategies.

All organizations participating in the beta program must sign a legal agreement, separate from any existing agreements or contracts that are in place.

Explore the beta program FAQ for more information.

What processes are good candidates?

This program is intended for participants who build apps that belong to at least one of the following use case categories:

  • High throughput automation: Integrating human tasks only when needed as exceptions
  • Process orchestration: Connecting different external systems together using EPEx as a central data pipeline
  • High volume data processing: Communicating asynchronously with external systems
