Introduction

Appian's Robotic Workforce Manager (RWM) application works with Appian RPA, Blue Prism, or UIPath to govern and administer robots for robotic process automation (RPA). RWM enables the automation of the Center of Excellence (COE) and helps bridge the gap between human and digital workers. It helps identify and measure automation opportunities and provides visibility, governance, and control over the digital workforce. In addition, RWM empowers business users to manage robotic processes themselves by allowing them to start, schedule, and request new RPA processes, as well as seamlessly incorporating them into the process of managing process exceptions.

This page gives a high-level overview of the RWM application.

Modules

Figure 2.0.a: The Robotic Workforce Manager

The Robotic Workforce Manager is made of two modules:

  1. Automation Planner: It is common for organizations to have hundreds or even thousands of RPA processes implemented. The Automation Planner module provides a way for the automation COE to manage the life cycle of RPA processes - from intake request to business and technical reviews, until the process is deployed in production. It also provides impact analysis and value assessment for RPA process that are in production.
  2. Control Center: The Control Center provides data-driven insights about the digital workforce operations. In addition, it provides greater self-service for business users and allows them to start or schedule the robots on demand. Exception management, reconciliations, or approvals that people perform as part of robotic processes can be automated using this module. Tasks are assigned to the right person at the right time and are associated with completion time, escalations, or priority to ensure productive human-robot collaboration and process service-level agreement (SLA) management.

Following are the equivalent key terminologies used between RWM application with Appian RPA, BluePrism, UiPath, and Automation Anywhere.
